Slack Hippys special guest this month comes from the Vienna Scientists crew, he already appeared on one of the very first Dogs Bollocks and its about time to reintroduce DARCOSAN (three minutes/vienna scientists recordings).
Since the mid nineties Darcosan's heavy percussion led D&B sets have been a musical mainstay of the viennese scene - rocking the likes of Vienna's prime hang outs aka the Flex, Club Meierei, Volksgarten, WUK, etc... and electrifying hordes of electronic enthusiasts. Although his dad's music of choice evolved around classical sixties acts like Pink Floyd, James Brown, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones he initiated the vinyl collection of his son with electronic pioneers like Kraftwerk and Jean-Michel Jarre, setting the ideal foundation for an electronic minded eclectic.
At the age of 13 - again through his father's initation - he took up drumming, playing in a local pop group for the next couple of years. After the band's split up in 1986, Darcosan traded his drumset for a pair of Technics 1210's, and started to DJ 1992, in the flourishing Techno and Tribal scene. Around 96 - already posessing a massive reputation for his finely crafted DJ sets - he discovered Drum&Bass&breakbeats.
1997 saw the release of his first production entitled "Babe Factor" on Vienna Scientists I (Col.492829-1) which was followed by his collaborational Project "Funk on Pot" with Alex Deutsch (A Family Affair/Various Artists VIE 009CD und A Family Affair/CUTS VIE 008/12"Maxi-Single in autumn 2000) |
