In seiner britischen Heimat und in Irland ist David Gray ein Star, der viele Platten verkauft. ("A remarkably piece of work...literate, heartfelt, bittersweet...", The Times) Spätestens seit dem Album "The White Ladder" braucht sich Gray, der in den frühen 90er Jahren als nachdenklicher Indie-Gitarrenpopper auf dem Hut-Plattenlabel (The Verve, Placebo, Smashing Pumpkins) begann, keine Sorgen mehr um seine Zukunft zu machen. Bei uns weiterhin eher ein Geheimtipp, versucht der Songwriter, der seine manchmal folkige Musik immer wieder auch mit elektronischen Elementen anreichert, trotzdem die Gasometer-Halle in Wien zu füllen. Im Vorprogramm übrigens Matt Hales alias Aqualung mit ebenfalls unter die Haut gehenden Tönen zwischen Gitarrenpop und Elektronik. (Eva Umbauer)
