  1. Stunde:
Rose Royce
This revered soul band was a major beneficiary of motown's relocation to Los Angeles. Formed in 1973 while still in high school, the group got their big break providing the musical backing for edwin starr. Before too long, they had caught the attention of one of starr's producers, Norman Whitfield, who began using them for his projects on the undisputed truth. At his suggestion, they added singer Gwen "Rose" Dickey and renamed themselves Rose Royce.

Les Mc Cann
Jazz legend Les Mc Cann is back. Funkier than ever! Born in 1935 in lexington, kentucky, Les is a self-taught musician (other than the four piano lessons he took as a youth from a nice old lady who lived in the neighborhood). 1960/2 Antibes jazz festival was a hit as he shared the stage with Ray Charles and Count Basie. He would move constantly, playing in countless sessions with the greatest names in jazz. In the early seventies, Mccann heard Roberta Flack for the first time at a nightclub in Washington D.C., and immediately became her champion, as he did similarly with Mahalia Jackson and Nancy Wilson. Les is best known for his work in the late 60s and early 70s with partner/saxman Eddie Harris, whom he first encountered at the Montreux jazz festival. Don't miss the incredible Les Mccann at the Jazzfest Wiesen, tonite (July 24), live on stage!

Martinho Da Vila
In spite of having been born in the countryside of Rio de Janeiro, Martinho da Vila is known as a samba singer and composer from Vila Isabel, in the north area of Rio de Janeiro city. Vila's popularity grew in 1974, with the release of his LP "Canta, canta, minha gente", which featured the samba "disritmia", extensively played on the radio.

Bill Withers
B. 4th july 1938, slab fork, West Virginia, U.S.A. Bill Withers was the youngest of six children. In 1971 he then secured an immediate hit with his debut single, 'Ain't no sunshine'. produced by Booker T. Jones, with Stephen Stills among the guest musicians, this fine performance was a million-seller, a feat emulated in 1972 by two more excellent releases, 'Lean on me' and 'Use me'. Thesedays Bill can be found working as a gardener in his local neighbourhood!

Festivalradio-Gästezimmer: Dogs Die In Hot Cars

Pathos-Sommerserie Teil 3: Das Gerede vom Weltschmerz
