In the last hour our man at the Olympics, Chris Cummins, is finally back from Turin and will join us for a Morning Show breakfast.

FM4 Radiosession mit Calexico
aufgenommen am 17.2. im Wiener Radiokulturhaus

Calexico sind vermutlich das bekannteste Beispiel für das in letzter Zeit zu neuem Leben erwachte Genre "Americana". Benannt haben sich Calexico nach einer Grenzstadt zwischen den USA und Mexico, und diese Grenzgängerei ist durchaus beabsichtigt. Traditionelle amerikanische Countrymusik verschmilzt mit lateinamerikanischen Versatzstücken. Daheim ist das Ganze weit weg von der Ethnoschiene, vielmehr einer der spannendsten Zugänge zu aktuellem Indierock abseits des klassischen 3-Akkorde-Gitarrensongs. Bei der FM4 Radiosession stellten die Calexico-Köpfe Joey Burns und John Convertino auch Songs ihres brandneues Albums "Garden Ruin" (VÖ 31.03.) vor.

Lee Hazlewood / Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On (1976)
Lee Hazlewoods first and only 12" maxi single! Recorded in 1976 with swedish session musicians like bassist Rutger Gunnarsson, guitarist Janne Schaffer and music director Sven-Olof Walldoff, who worked also with ABBA! This rare to get 1976 German RCA release shows the incredible versatility of musical genius Lee Hazlewood.

Claudja Barry / Dance, Dance, Dance (1977)
Born in Jamaica and raised in Toronto Claudja Barry was a member of the diso super-group Boney M, until she was replaced by Liz Mitchell in 1976! After leaving Boney M, Claudja Barry gained huge success as a solo artists with parts in the musical "Hair" and several hit records including her greatest hit to date the Disco anthem "Boogie Woogie Dancin' Shoes" in 1979.

Al Green / Love Ritual (1975)
My alltime favorite Al Green song! With one of soul music's most distinctive and best loved voices Al Green has proved popular worldwide. His extraordinary voice became known to the world through a string of legendary hits in the early 70s like "Let's Stay Together", "Love and Happiness" and "Take me to the River"!

Suzanne Gabriello / Z'avez Pas Lu Kafka (1968)
Suzanne Gabriello, a cute french singer/actress, became famous for her passionate affair with belgique cult chansonier and actor Jacques Brel. After 5 years the pair seperated and Brel composed a song for Gabrielle, which became one of his greatest hits: "Ne me quitte pas?". Suzann Gabriello died in 1992.

David Ruffin / Blood Donors Needed (1973)
David Ruffin made his musical reputation as the lead singer for The Temptations during the 1960's . The Temptations scored major hits in 1967 and 1968 with Ruffin leading the way, propelling him toward a solo career with Motown records throughout most of the 1970's. During the 1980's, Ruffin teamed up with former Temptations Eddie Kendricks and Dennis Edwards. In 1991 David died of drug overdose in Philadelphia.

Das britische Musikmagazin "The Wire" hievte sie wegen ihres dritten Albums "Lost and Safe" auf Platz der Jahrescharts von 2005: The Books. Das us-amerikanisch-niederländische Duo arbeitet seine Spoken-Word-Samplebibliothek zu elektronifizierten Folk-Collagen um, die neuerdings gar den Geist von Gospel atmen. Ein ausführliches Interview anlässlich ihres ersten Deutschland-Auftritts in Berlin am 12. Februar.

Richard Dorfmeisters Projekt "Tosca" hat eine weitere Veröffentlichung auf der Liste der mittlerweile stark expandierenden G-Stone Familie zu verzeichnen. "Souvenirs" nennt sich das Album, für das Dr. Rich diverse Remixe und Versionen seiner Stücke zusammengetragen hat. Darauf sind neben den "üblichen Verdächtigen" wie Rodney Hunter und Stereotyp auch Senor Coconut und Lindstrom & Prins Thomas zu finden, lezterer einer der besten Neumixes. Bis auf zwei Tracks finden sich alle Nummern von "Souvenirs" in diesem Liquid Radio Mix. Enjoy!

Die Gäste, die heute ins Soundpark-Studio kommen sind ziemlich spendabel - gleich zwei Verlosungen stehen an.

Erstens das Debüt des Elektronik-Trios Coup de Bam, das vor kurzem auf Couch Records erschienen ist. Coup de Bam stellen ihr Album vor und erzählen von der schwierigen Namensfindung, vom Spielen auf orientalischen Instrumenten und der Zusammenarbeit mit KünstlerInnen wie Madita.

Außerdem gibt's "Priorities" das neue Albums von Zeebee plus Single zu gewinnen. Die Vorarlberger Künstlerin erzählt in einer Listening-Session vom Netzwerken im Internet und ihrer Liebe zu schnellen Autos.

Und auch Mono und Nikitaman präsentieren ihr neues Album "Für immer" und plaudern über die Entwicklung von deutschsprachigem Reggae und Band-Castings. Sonst erwartet euch natürlich Neues aus dem Soundpark und gegen Ende der Sendung gibt's einen Austro-Mix vom Singer-/Songwriter Ben Martin.
