Ennio Morricone / Matto, Caldi, Soldo, Morti, Girotondo (1969) Taken from the hard to find soundtrack album "Vergogna Schifosi". Tonight italian composer-conductor Ennio Morricone, who has composed more than 300 motion picture scores over a 45-year career, receives the Honorary Academy Award. The Award, an Oscar® statuette, will be given to Morricone at the 79th Academy Awards presentation "for his magnificent and multifaceted contributions to the art of film music."
Roy Ayers / I'm Your Mind Part 2 (previously unreleased, 1979) The genius of Roy Ayers spans decades. From the '70s to the present day, his music continues to be supported by performers and audiences of various genres. It was the fusion of jazz, soul, and dance music that impacted the afro-heads of his day. Currently, a new generation of dreads, weaves, and baldheads are enjoying the fruit of his labor. By sampling or covering his hits, many R&B and rap artists have prompted a Roy Ayers revival. Although successful, today's use of his music is merely an introduction to this legend. Roy Ayers has proven that songs don't have to be weighed down with pounds of lyrics to be a hit.
Lee Hazlewood / Your Thunder And Your Lightning (previously unreleased, 1977) The great Lee Hazlewood began his long and interesting career in the music world as a DJ in Phoenix, Arizona. By the mid-sixties, songs he wrote and produced for Nancy Sinatra were topping the pop charts. "These Boots Are Made for Walking" and "Some Velvet Morning" are two of his most well known works. Other artists such as: Ann Margret, Elvis Presley, Petula Clark, Dean Martin, and Frank Sinatra have also recorded his songs. In more recent years groups such as Jesus and Mary Chain, and Primal Scream have covered his hits. In his time Hazlewood has released over 25 albums and has written more than 300 songs. "Your Thunder & Your Lightning" is taken from the album-sampler "For Every Solution There's A Problem", a unique collection of previously unreleased recordings from the Lee Hazlewoods archives.
The Jackson Sisters / Boy, You're Dynamite (1976) An amazing bit of soul - and one of the rarest records of the 70s! This masterpiece was recorded by The Jackson Sisters, a semi-gospelly soul group that has a sound that's a bit like The Voices of East Harlem, but which is a lot harder, and that has a deeper soul sound to it.
Sly & The Family Stone / Running Away (1971) If there were ever a band that lived up to the cliché of 'defining the times' it was Sly and the Family Stone. For a few years in the late 60s and early 70s, Sly Stone's happy-faced vision of integration of psychedelic pop and innovative funk rhythms dominated the American music scene. Sly and the Family Stone managed to turn the music business of their time into a new direction. Eventhough younger people will not remember the band, their influence can still be heard in today's music. Due to the fact that Sly Stone dissapeared from the scene at the beginning of the 80s, something like a Sly Stone mythos surrounds his band.
Nonato E Sua Conjunto / Cafua (1975) Nonato & Seu Conjunto were a band from the Northeastern state of Maranhao/Brazil whose albums always featured irresistible funky nuggets like this scorcher from 1975.
Im Gästezimmer: Eagles of Death Metal Sie sind keine Adler, auch keine Ornithologen und ihre Musik hat eigentlich gar nichts mit harten, toten Metal zu tun, trotzdem nennen sie sich die Eagles of Death Metal und sind heute zu Gast im FM4 Gästezimmer. Erst letzten Sonntag beschallten die Männer um Frontmann Jesse Hughes eine komplett ausverkaufte Wiener Arena, wobei sie eindeutig bewiesen haben, dass sie keineswegs prominente Unterstützung von Freunden wie Josh Homme, oder Dave Grohl benötigen um eine knackige, rotzige Show abzuliefern.
FM4 Draußen Skifahren muss man ja nicht unbedingt immer in den Bergen das haben sich wohl die Veranstalter der "Red Bull Play Streets" gedacht, die gestern in Bad Gastein über die Bühne gegangen sind. 16 Profi Freestyle-Skier aus 8 Nationen haben die idyllische Stadt in Salzburg zu ihrem Slopestyle-Park umfunktioniert: Fahrer wie der Deutsche Sven Kueenle, Julien Regnier aus Frankreich und Martin Misof aus Österreich sind zB über ein Hausdach und durch eine Straßenschlucht gefahren. Eine gestrenge Jury hat ihre Sprünge und Tricks bewertet und mit 6.000 Euro Preisgeld belohnt. Wie das ausgesehen hat, hört ihr jetzt von Fm4 Draußen-Reporterin Mari Lang, die gestern bei den Red Bull Play Streets in Bad Gastein live dabei war.

Harald "Sack" Ziegler, Multiinstrumentalist mit Hang zu kauzigen Texten, hörspielartigen Soundcollagen und eigensinnigen Popaneignungen zwischen Bretter-Techno und Indie-Trash. Seit 1987 macht der Kölner Freigeist nun Lo-Fi_Syphonien - teils solo, teils in Kollaborationen mit Kölner Verbündeten wie Mouse on Mars. Ein Studiobesuch des sympathischen "Hobby"-Musikanten mit dem langen Atem.
