Exuma / Exuma, The Obeah Man (1970) Freaked-out music, with elements of voodoo, Bahamian folkore, African/Caribbean shamanism, etc., in a cult-ish variation of early Dr. John. Well-time for rediscover! In 1970, decades before 'World Music' became a music biz trade term, a New York based seven-piece ensemble called Exuma caused an international stir. The superb debut album of this multi-racial outfit from the West Indies and the Bahamas, fronted by singer Tony 'The Obeah Man' McKay.
Johnny Hartman / The Day The World Stopped Turning (1964) Taken from the album "The Voice That Is". At the time of this album, Johnny Hartman definitely was the voice that is - a singer with a new level of maturity for the 60s, and a voice that's far more masculine than the geeky look of the photo on the cover! Hartman's sound here is smooth and warm, but never in a too-commercial way - a great antidote to some of the bigger singers of his generation, and cast perfectly here in some lightly jazzy arrangements
Bob Azzam / Rain Rain Go Away (1968) Taken from the album "New Sounds" by the french jazz Bob Azzam orchestra. A killer and rare album including the famous hip hop drum break " Rain Rain Go Away ". Also the dancefloor funky tune "Tricky Soul" & the classic latin jazz cover version of "Berimbau". Hightly recommanded !

A Blaxploitation masterpiece on par with Curtis Mayfield's "Superfly" and Isaac Hayes' "Shaft", Roy Ayers' soundtrack for the 1973 Pam Grier vehicle "Coffy" remains one of the most intriguing and evocative film scores of its era or any other.
Helio Matheus / Mais Kriola (1975) Helio Matheu is one of those now-you-see-him-now-you-dont creative types with only one album and a clutch of singles to his credit as a solo artist, despite being an incredibly talented songwriter. ?Mais Kriola³ first became a hit by a number of different artists as "Kriola (Black Girl)" in 1973, amassing so many covers by the time of Matheus own recording in 1975 that he ended up titling it "More Kriola" on his album.

Wenn altgediente DJs in Erinnerungen schwelgen, dann wird längst vergessenes und verloren geglaubtes wieder an die Oberfläche gebracht: DJ Kriz Da Rhythm hat für diesen Mix in seinem Archiv gestöbert und reichlich obskure 80er-Jahre Elektronik, schrägen New Wave und exotische World-Music-Tunes ausgegraben, die den Geist des Cosmic-Sounds wieder auferstehen lassen.
Schon seit seinen Teenager-Jahren versorgt Sam Irl den Soundpark regelmäßig mit Kostproben seines Schaffens. Dabei geht es in erster Linie um detailverliebt programmierte und selbst gespielte Grooves, egal ob die Resultate dann in die Genre-Schubladen Reggae, Dubstep, Jazz, Broken Beat, Funk oder HipHop passen. Mittlerweile steht der junge Mann mit Hauptwohnsitz Wien beim Stuttgarter Label Pulver Records unter Vertrag und veröffentlichte im Februar seine erste EP "African Dance". Grund genug, ihn und sein weites musikalisches Universum einmal genauer vorzustellen. Ausserdem gibt es das Überraschungskonzert-Heimspiel von Garish in Eisenstadt in voller Länge zu hören, ebenso wie die Remix-Mix-CD "A Roll and A Cheesekrayner" des jungen HipHop Produzenten Malteza89.
