Chriz Montez & Herb Alpert / Day By Day (1966) Chris Montez had with "Let's Dance" one huge hit in the early 60's and a number of other songs on the charts later in the decade. Born Christopher Montanez in 1943 in Los Angeles, he attended high school with the Beach Boys. In 1966 Chris Montez re-emerged on A&M records, working with Herb Alpert on some songs and re-doing some old standards.
Annette Snell / Love Connection (1974) Short before her tragic death in an air crash great Annette Snell had modest R&B hits with three singles between 1973-1974. She had started with Miami groups, the Fabulettes and Mar-Vells but her vocal talent was such that it cried out for a solo career.
Jean DuShon / Feelin' Good (1965) Jean DuShon is a superb singer. Early in her career, Dinah Washington scolded her for "trying to sing like me". DuShon quickly developed her own style which was so impressive, her rise to stardom was inevitable! She worked with Fats Domino, Count Basie, Ramsey Lewis, Miles Davis, Cannonball Adderly, Ray Charles Marvin Gaye, Etta James, Little Richard, Herbie Mann and Smokey Robinson.
Johnny Bristol / Woman, Woman (1974) Johnny Bristol was an excellent singer and songwriter, with his songwriting taking precedence in his early career at the Motown Records imprint. Johnny was later to marry Iris Gordy and become an 'actual' part of the Motown family. Johnny stayed with Motown for the duration of the Sixties, partnering Harvey Fuqua and writing and producing for the likes of Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye and Michael Jackson. Johnny Bristol died on March 2004 in Michigan from natural causes. He was 65.
Stefi Akos / Mariguana Cha-Cha-Cha (1958) The nearly fifty years old Hungarian radiohit by Stefi Ákos was remixed for a 2003 VW Polo tv commercial. Now listen to the ultra-rare original version!
Barrabas/ Wild Safari (1972) The seventies produced a great number of new sounds, Barrabas was one of them. Created by former BRINCOS' star Mr.Fernando Abex, this band reached an excellent level of popularity on the US charts with their first album "Wild Safari". The album is filled with great tunes and superb musicianship.
